THE ENVIRONMENT
Marmocil uses a cutting technology without the use of chemical
products. Water is used, which is fully reused after treatment.
For such reuse, the company uses a system of separating the
stone dust from the water in the cutting and polishing processes.
The dust, after it is separated by decanting and pressing,
has as its final destination a sanitary earthwork, following
all the environmental legislation rules. As for the water,
after the filtering process, returns clean to be used in the
productive process.
RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY
Environmental education program
With the purpose of fulfilling its social function, Marmocil
invests on research, education, and environmental improvement.
Currently, an environmental education program is beginning
to be implanted and involves three schools in the company
headquarters neighborhood.
The project provides for teachers qualification and the distribution
of didactic materials focusing on themes chosen by the schools
themselves. Other goals are the implantation of a small greenhouse
for seedlings at each school in the project and the revitalization
of the free areas in such schools and in the district.
Reinforcing its internal commitment to the environmental
issues, the company also keeps an environmental education
program with all its staff and third-party technical team.
They participate in the selective collection of waste throughout
the company’s industrial and administrative unit, separating
the waste and donating that which can be recycled to recycling
associations and cooperative units.
Social program
The recyclable waste selected at the company by selective
collection is donated to ASCAVIVE – The Vila Velha Waste-Pickers
Association.
ASCAVIVE currently has 18 members, former street-dwellers,
who participate of all the process stages, taking turns between
the external work (of waste collection in residences and stores)
and the internal work, at their headquarters, where the waste
is selected, weighed, pressed, and stored until its commercialization.
